ABOUT

Aged 15, an intolerable teenager started to watch a movie called the Cannonball Run. Well what can I say, twenty seconds in on the opening sequence I was struck by lightning from the Italian Automobile Gods, Lamborghini. Life was never going to be the same again as the phrase sprung from my lips 'what the F#ck is that!!'. Yes, as many who have had the same experience, this was my first experience of seeing the now legendary Lamborghini Countach. I honestly had never seen anything like it and the seed was sown that one day I will own one, oblivious to how much these things cost.
Well Long story short and several decades later I found myself the owner of the now considered vintage (as am I) Lamborghini Countach, compliments of a scrap dealer in London.
This was the beginning of a love hate relationship that's lasted, somehow, for the past twenty plus years with this car.
Driving back from London, my rose tinted glasses were quickly replaced with 'Oh Crap' what have I done, the phrase you may know "beauty is only skin deep" sums this car up pretty well.
In a nutshell
- You can't see much out of it so you are sort of guessing when you maneuver about. Reversing is a challenge, and this car is wide!
- When you look through the side window to see what's coming at junctions there is a window cross bar that obscures your vision so you have to duck to see under it. I don't know why they put these there the window only comes down a couple inches anyway which is useless.
- The noise is loud, there is no escaping it and after a run back from London your ears are still ringing a few hours later.
- Getting in the car you will find the doors don't quite open enough to have good easy clear access.
- Although the car has two fuel tanks you don't get many miles before you need to fill up again.
- These cars do not brake like modern cars so you need to give plenty of braking distance.
- The radiator fans seem to stay on most of the time and if you look at the design there is no clear flow of air across the radiators, so they can't cool the engine unless the fans are constantly going.
- The inside is best described as a lunch box sat on a shelf.
- And lastly its uncomfortable, an hour driving the Countach will reshape your body!
- And the list goes on!!
Now I hear you saying it already "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!" - I know, and you are right.
I run a company (Fine Form Design Studios Ltd) that makes almost anything, mainly for creative adverting and property marketing. The business that I'm in is up and down like a yoyo, so from time to time we end up with not much to do and workshops full of ability. So, yes you can see where this is going, in our off times shall we say, I set about dragging the Lamborghini Countach kicking and screaming into the 21st century in my vision of what it should be, designing and manufacturing everything myself.
The reason was, I want to be able to use this car daily and want it to drive and feel as amazing as it looks. Herein lies the start of the love hate relationship I have with this car, it has fought me every step of the way and still does, it just won't gracefully concede and give me some motoring peace!
I don't see this car like other people do, because it abuses my good nature, but I'm surprised at how many people say "F#ck Me" and scramble to dig out the mobile phone when I slide by, so in short I must have done something right because the smiles and excitement this car gives peoples amazes me, which in turn gives me the best reason for buying this blasted thing in the first place, you will not believe how many times I wish I hadn’t. Anyway this site has been created to share my Lamborghini Countach-Special with you all, I hope you like.
